Trailer Tuesday - My eyebrows can only go so high!

Finally, it’s Tuesday! I’ve been looking forward to sharing this Japanese FMV from the upcoming Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn (Wii, Stateside November 5th)

Recognize anyone? Well, if you played Path of Radiance you’ll recognize a whole bunch of people, including my second favorite asskicker (once you get her going), Mia. Wish I understood Japanese. :)

As mentioned yesterday, Heavenly Sword is out this week on PS3. Just in case you were curious, the commenters on all of the Heavenly Sword trailers feel that it’s very important that the world know that they find Nariko very attractive, and that they would have sex with her. In case there was any confusion there.

OK, there are a few odd bits out there that I have to share. Here’s a Japanese TV spot for a DS game in series that will make you a better drinker. Finally… a game that helps unite all of my passions!

Not all games are as exciting as you would hope for them to be. Take for example, the MMO for cell phones and PDAs: Shadow of Legend (of Quest of Fate). It’s out now, you can download the PC client here.

The FMVs really reminded me of the opening sequences in Dungeon Keeper, but without the funny.

Left 4 Dead, looks like it’s going to be an incredible co-op survival horror game for the XBox and PC. It comes out in February of 08.

Aw man, I gotta get a Wii.

I gotta finish Path of Radiance.

Why do I gotta be at work??

Do we know if this is the first Fire Emblem to re-use characters? I know it’s the first English title to do so. I know that this game actually alternates between Sothe and Ike — it sounds like a really interesting concept.

There are some CRAZY trailers and gameplay shots available. Aerial battles FTW.

No, it isn’t… Fire Emblem 7 for the GBA (the first one released in the US) is a prequel to Fire Emblem 6, and it includes some of the same characters. I recall that Marcus was in both; I don’t know how many other characters are reused, though.

  4. Mighty Ponygirl Says:

OK — I didn’t want to make any proclamations — too few of the series’ titles have been translated to English.

There’s also God of War III for PS3, but it’s not out for a while yet. That franchise pwnz my narrow white ass.

I forgot to mention: How cool is it that the healer in the Fire Emblem vid is a guy? Well done, these folks! If only I liked strategy games….

  7. Mighty Ponygirl Says:

You get a few healers in the game — two guys and two girls. You can use them as you see fit. One thing that’s worth mentioning is that when you class-up Mist (the young girl healer), she goes from healer to Valkyrie, starts to ride a horse, and gets a sword. So yeah — very cool.

I actually wrote to Intelligent Systems thanking them for the good female characters offered in their strategy games (both Fire Emblem and Advance Wars). I figure it’s always good to give a company props when they do something right — not just come down on them when they piss you off.

Fire Emblem: Hmmmm, looks like the Wii is starting to get to the point of having enough games that I might like to play for me to think about getting one.

Heavenly Sword: …but the PS3? Not so much. And Wow that’s a BIG sword, a REALLY BIG and really sorta impractical sword. Hell on the wrists I would have thought. Could I have a slimmer one please? Also why am I having Bloodrayne flashbacks again?

On a more positive note I’ll admit that our heroine (Nariko you said?) looks quite a bit less mortifyingly over-sexualised when in movement in that trailer than in the really rather embaressing shots of the box art I’ve seen floating around.

Sommelier DS: I hope the man in the cream clothing sticks with the white wine rather than the red. Less likely for the stains to be noticable I think :)

Shadow of Legend: Mobile phone MMORPG? At the data rates I have to pay here .uk on the phone providers that happen to cover the areas of the country I need, I rather think not.

Left 4 Dead: Really great trailer…really great concept…alas, co-op multiplayer shooter is a genre that sends me running away screaming. *runs aways screaming*

Fire Emblem: Is that the castle featured in Super Smash Bros. Brawl? The game looks great. I just hope that new players can get some sort of recap as to who is who in-game…

Heavenly Sword: Awesome battle screens and movies, but… Is this just God of War with a woman? At least Nariko, dressed as she is, doesn’t try to distract the enemy with boobsickle spillage.

Sommelier DS: The new Brain Age style of gaming? I wonder if this is a focused sale for wine lovers… It doesn’t even look like a game, more like a program into a gaming handheld… Like a Palm Pilot with one function? Well, whatever sells, I guess!

Shadow of Legend: The game looks bad. Just plain bad.

Left 4 Dead: Looks like it could be an interactive Dawn of the Dead, with a dash of Resident Evil Outbreak. Those zombies are freakin’ FAST!
